Robert Carnes’s Story

Hello,
My name is Rob Carnes and I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Sjögren's Syndrome in the spring of 2012. At first, I was not even aware of what those conditions even were and had no idea that only 10% of cases were men. I continued to work my job as an electrician for two more years until it became too difficult to perform the essential duties of that job.
I was forced to go on disability in 2014 and for the next 10 years was on a roller coaster ride of flares and numerous other health conditions including developing Type II diabetes. During this time, I was also on multiple different medications, vitamins, and diets in order to try and to limit my symptoms and improve my quality of life. It just seemed as though nothing was working as I continued to get progressively worse over all those years.
Finally, in 2023, I was prescribed a relatively new type of infusion treatment with Saphnelo. Almost immediately my symptoms and flares began to improve and I am now able to return to work part time and feel as though I can once again contribute to society and be a productive member of the workforce.
Sincerely,
Rob Carnes
