Jonnie Moon’s Story

Update since 2016

The years since 2016 have had very good and very sad experiences. Three of my five siblings passed — a sister in 2019, a sister in 2020, a brother in 2022. All three were quite wrenching in their own ways.

In July 2019 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I endured chemo (not for the faint of heart), hair loss, and did not even throw up the opening. I was very fortunate in my journey. A mammogram revealed detection early and 3 1/2 years later I am cancer-free.

I had my left hip replaced in April 2023, after several years of constant pain. My right hip will be replaced this summer. I am so very grateful for science discoveries that make these surgeries possible.

Intended in May 2020. After my left hip surgery, I began to take exercise classes through the C.B. Senior Center. They have been great for both physical and emotional health.

I have been fortunate to have my lupus be inactive since 1998 after several severe flares over the prior two years. I am grateful for that, as well as a good husband, and happy life every day.
